CLASSIFIED CLASSES: INTRODUCTION

Some Trek fans find the very notion of a 'Starfleet Intelligence', and secret ships and battle fleets deplorable. Gene Roddenberry himself would probably not have endorsed this policy either. But, ask yourself, how feasible is it, in such an anarchic and dangerous Universe such as Star Trek's can a superpower such as the Federation and the Starfleet that defends it, survive, without intelligence, reconnaissance, and espionage -for a period of two hundred years?! Lacking these security features it certainly couldn't sustain itself as the supposedly naïve, exploration only organisation that it appears to be on the surface. Putting it simply, without an intelligence service, rigid security and solid defence protocols -utilising hard edged military counter measures, it just would not have survived at all....

So, to expedite the task of overall defence, what sort of thing, speculatively, would Starfleet have in its resources to implement this action..? To get an idea, check out these imagined classes (apart from Prometheus) from the table below to see........

This actual list existed before the appearance of Section 31 on DS9, and this organisation in fact justifies this manifest. I've since reconfigured it to fit in with the latest info. All in all, I've just made up the other stuff here -to explain how classified operations, and these kinds of ships, might be deployed. Some of these Classified vessels, perhaps operating under the auspices of Starfleet Intelligence and Section 31 may share names with other existing standard fleet vessels, since both are controlled independently. Two 'established' classes may already come into this classified category, those being Prometheus and Defiant Classes, although the latter I've dumped into the regular class listing as it's 'classified' status has since expired....
