Mid 24th century Destroyer. Initially named 'Warrior Class', this class vessel was conceived as a new breed of combat orientated ships, making up a specialised elite battle wing. With the Cardassian war threatening quadrant stability at this time, this was seen as the ideal solution to answer the call for strong defensive rearguard protecting the core of Federation territory. But as the war began to lean heavily in the Federation's favour, the overall Cardassian situation became less of a concern to Starfleet top brass. Soon, production of the Medusa Class as a covert military vehicle was halted, and resources were channelled into conventional cruisers, with the planned Korolev and Nebula Classes that were on the horizon. An undisclosed number of Medusa Class vessels remain....
Sorry, no picture for this class is available yet
(Obviously I don't intend this conjectural Medusa Class to be the same as the actual canon Medusa Class from the late 23rd, early 24th century... This along with Cheyenne and Nova Class has existed on these listings some time before, quite bizarrely, they actually came into canon existence.)
