A presumed renewal of an older class vessel referred to as ‘The Scorpion Wing’ (the original 23rd century class in this respect being referred to as 'Class A'- check out Stats Board for other Spec classes). This first speculative class, from 100 years ago were a group of Escort vessels operated by Starfleet in the 23rd and early 24th centuries. One would suppose these to be quite simply battleships, encompassing 15 middle weight cruisers, perhaps some were old refitted Antares Class freighters with state of the art weapons and improved propulsion systems. When Scorpion Wing was phased out, due to contemporary Starships becoming in many cases more advanced, and the diminishing Klingon threat, it would have seen the end of a battle fleet for a while, until of course Defiant Class came along…. And that was out of necessity due to firstly the growing concern over Borg activities, and the growing Dominion problem. One could speculate that with such a battle fleet, and traditional starships operating in tandem, side by side, it would prove to be very effective against any would-be adversary. This newer ‘Scorpion Class’ would be more than a simple tribute to its former namesake, it’d be a definite fleet requirement.
