Named after the Persian King of the 5th Century BC, this class vessel had the elements of an Excelsior Class variant, similar to the Centaur-Type, a few of which remain into the late 24th century. The Xerxes' though were virtually all decommissioned by 2360, after serving for more than half a century as a standard light Cruiser, carrying out duties such as research, surveying and first contact reconnaissance. The three remaining by 2360 were relieved from the fleet and became unlisted charter vessels for the scientific community. Like many other older class vessels a number of these unlisted Xerxes Class ships were abruptly reactivated in 2372 and after efforts to re-arm them were assigned to the 2nd Fleet. Only 1 though survived the war with the Dominion.

*A ship would visit drydock for many reasons, including refits, repairs, servicing upgrades, preliminary trials and testing of new components, and spacedock for similar reasons, as well as crew rotation, reassignment, prep period before redeployment, and so forth.
As this class is only of my own speculation, all specs and stats appearing here are hypothetical. The explanations about this data, such as ship designations, weapons, offensive power etc, see Spec Definitions.
