As an Explorer, this supreme starship class is built for defence as well as exploration designations. The Sovereigns would score well from one end of the spectrum to the other. Mainly built at San Francisco Fleet Construction Yards, this impressive class is a new distinction in technical supremacy over the fleet -a fleet growing larger and larger yearly due to construction yards being improved and expanded throughout the Federation. Sovereign Class is a standard long range, long deployment Explorer vessel, built with families in mind. It is faster than Galaxy Class, heavily armed, and measures nearly 700 metres. This class ship has already proved its superiority over all other fleet classes....

*A ship would visit drydock for many reasons, including refits, repairs, servicing upgrades, preliminary trials and testing of new components, and spacedock for similar reasons, as well as crew rotation, reassignment, prep period before redeployment, and so forth.
