Medium sized Cruiser used often as a Scout. First commissioned in the early 2360's the prototype was constructed at the Fleet Construction Yards at Antares and it's design was initially intended to be a Medium Cruiser, but was changed to Heavy Scout only months before the prototype first left Spacedock for field tests. With newly enhanced defensive capabilities and heavily armoured hull, Andromeda Class vessels would in likelihood be assigned to virtually anything, from defence of military installations, Gamma Quadrant reconnaissance, deep space exploration missions and extended scouting missions along the Romulan Neutral Zone.

*A ship would visit drydock for many reasons, including refits, repairs, servicing upgrades, preliminary trials and testing of new components, and spacedock for similar reasons, as well as crew rotation, reassignment, prep period before redeployment, and so forth.
The listed specifications for ship classes are partly hypothetical, but some data such as ship lengths, weapon stats and crew complements are in some cases canon. For an explanation on the specs, and what the Ship designations mean, see Spec Definitions.
