A general purpose transport and cargo carrier used widely throughout the Federation for nearly a century, and has had several design variations. Most that have been constructed during this period were unregistered, and are generally open for usage by any aligned, or sometimes affiliated race. Vessels in this class can have significant variations in performance and design. Speed and defensive capability would reflect the era in which it was built (the registry number gives a clue). A few examples are detailed below...

Footnote*

- I assume that Charlie X's USS Antares NCC-501 was NOT the Antares Class ship that we know of, so displayed here. This ship had to be of an as yet unknown class. It was tiny, and had a crew of about 20. This later Antares Class is something completely different.

- The Norkova and Xhosa may be types of Antares Class, but it is uncertain...

*A ship would visit drydock for many reasons, including refits, repairs, servicing upgrades, preliminary trials and testing of new components, and spacedock for similar reasons, as well as crew rotation, reassignment, prep period before redeployment, and so forth.

The listed specifications for ship classes are partly hypothetical, but some data such as ship lengths, weapon stats and crew complements are in some cases canon. For an explanation on the specs, and what the Ship designations mean, see Spec Definitions.
