Several of these class ships are used exclusively in and around the more key systems of the Federation as a defence measure. Sector 001, also known as the Terran system or Sol - home of Earth, has a small band of Korolev Class ships defending the perimeter. The home system, being centre stage to the Federation, is more vulnerable than is generally believed when the heavy guns are on deep space assignments. Starfleet have installed a rapid response unit in the vicinity of Oort's Array on the edge of the system, as well as bordering the Mars and Neptune defence perimeters, encompassing advanced early warning sensor networks. This scattered taskforce of up to ten wary eyed, well armed Korolev Class vessels are on patrol with skeleton crews of fleet veterans, operating on a three month on, three month off rotation basis. These are the sentries for Sol and sensitive surrounding sectors. Other primary locations such as Alpha Centauri, Vulcan, Betazed, Bolarus, Andoria and so forth have similar deployments. Six of this class were taken down by the Breen assault of Earth in late 2375. The list contains some of the 51 currently remaining in service..

*A ship would visit drydock for many reasons, including refits, repairs, servicing upgrades, preliminary trials and testing of new components, and spacedock for similar reasons, as well as crew rotation, reassignment, prep period before redeployment, and so forth.
The listed specifications for ship classes are partly hypothetical, but some data such as ship lengths, weapon stats and crew complements are in some cases canon. For an explanation on the specs, and what the Ship designations mean, see Spec Definitions.
