A fairly small class vessel with only 12 decks, primarily used as a Surveyor. But Springfield Class ships have fairly versatile deployment details. Tasks could involve transportation, the patrolling of aligned world shipping routes, and the supplying of provisions to some of the outer colonies. On top of that, other missions may involve some exploration of new territories beyond Federation space, and the study of astronomical phenomena. Some examples of the ships commissioned are listed below.

The listed specifications for ship classes are partly hypothetical, but some data such as ship lengths, weapon stats and crew complements are in some cases canon. For an explanation on the specs, and what the Ship designations mean, see Spec Definitions.
